On one of my instances the mailer daemon sends a reply for every successful outgoing mail.
I don't know why, though, I didn't set it up like this. I want to wait a bit longer until the next git pull, to see if everything's working alright for others.
That's certainly not supposed to happen and Mailcow isn't set up to do that on purpose. To find out why this is happening, you'd need to provide one of these mailer daemon messages and the corresponding lines from the Postfix log.
That's why Postfix sends them. There should by a client-side option for this. What email client are you using? Do these messages also get sent when you use SOGo? They get sent by Outlook I think. I already edited my original message saying that I accidentally copied the SOGo log. I'm trying to get a postfix log now, because the log file got too large and doesn't contain the latest example anymore. Will post in a sec. So it seems that only Outlook is triggering this behaviour.
Will try to find this option now. Skip to content. Successful Mail Delivery Reports
Guess we wrote at the same time, sorry. It happens with internal users as external destinations. At first I thought that it was only with mails with attachments but it happens also with html mails and most of my users has the company logo in their signature. I have a script that sends clear text emails to external destinations and those mails does also get this report. Did I accidently turn of dsn support, where can I check that out. The only filtering I'm doing before the mails getting to the mail server is my firewall that removes some attachments but nothing else.
Strange thing is that not everyone are receiving these messages, but some of those who do get them has the read confirmation turned on. I checked some of the usr with problems, some of them had activated the read and delivery confirmation, but others had neither of them activated, and still gets them.
I have not changed the postfix or sendmail configuration, it is all default by instalation. I'm really stuck here, it might be something stupid causing this, but I'm kind of lost. Mayibe it can be useful for other out there. The problem was never the zimbra server, the server just did his job.
We knew that our mail server was about to die, so we had made an new server with zimbra zcs. The old server crashed last thursday and I had to do an emergency migration to this new server. The old server didn't support delevery report and many users had this option activated, other users while they are sending new mails marks the option read report and delievery report ignoring the difference between this two options. Sorry for bothering you with these problems Regards.

We are adding a check before allowing a normal smtp connection. Allowing hosts in mynetwork, then allowing sasl authenticated too. Then a check for local domain address. If its true - the connection will be rejected. For Zimbra Collaboration 8. You should get following error at the rcpt command if you used the Zimbra Collaboration 8.
Emails can still be sent if the 'mail from:' address is blank, but the 'from' address is specified in the body of the email. This is expected behaviour, and is required by RFC :. The RFCs do not offer the option to negotiate feature subsets. This is not as bad as it sounds. When you turn off DSN for remote inbound mail, remote senders with DSN support will still be informed that their mail reached your Postfix gateway successfully; they just will not get successful delivery notices from your internal systems.
Remote senders lose very little: they can no longer specify how Postfix should report delayed or failed delivery. The first option specifies what notifications are sent for mail that is submitted via the Postfix sendmail 1 command line:.
